Popular attractive force of the WPT (World Poker Tour) Vienna along the main event, the Premier League V assembled the huge names of live poker championship divided in 2 groups of 8 who are Eugene Katchalov, Sam Trickett, Mathew Frankland, Luke Schwartz, Erik Seidel, Tony G, Andy Frankenberger and Phil Laak for Group A and Dan Cates, Tom Dwan, Ben Willinofsky, Patrik Antonius, Scott Seiver, Vanessa Selbst, Yevgeniy Timoshenko and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier for Group B. Tom Dwan was planned to be a part of Group A, but because of the transportation issues, he missed the very first part of the 1st group and was compelled to give his place to Sam Trickett.

Following the 1st two games of the A Group, Tony G and Phil Laak heads in the ranking with twenty points and each followed by Sam Trickett with 14 pts. Erik Seidel and Andy Frankenberger follow the leaders very closely with thirteen points came after by Eugene Katchalov with 9 points and Mathew Frankland with 8 pts whereas Luke Schwartz far behind with 3 points.

The 1st round of the special poker championship of the B Group start on Thursday and after a after a head’s up of less than 2 hours, Patrick Antonius arrived at the first spot with sixteen points followed by Scott Seiver with 11 pts, Daniel Cates with 8 pts and Tom Dwan with 6 pts.
The other groups are staying behind with less than 5 points that are Bertrand Grospellier with 4 pts, Yevgeniy Timoshenko with 3 pts, Vanessa Selbst with 2 pts and Ben Wilinofsky with 0 pts respectively.

IOWA PASS GAMING BILL

Iowa will be one of the first states in the US to allow Internet Poker as the Senate passed a bill to legalize online poker by a margin of 29-20. According to experts the bill will help the state to cut down approximately $30 million of the gambling money which is flowing overseas every year. The bill will allow the casinos and racetracks of the state to offer online poker. The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission will be in charge of the internet gambling. It is expected that the move will generate revenues between $3-13 million and the measure now goes to the House for approval.

If it is approved by the House and Governor Terry Branstad signs it, then casinos of Iowa can launch games which will allow people to establish accounts and deposit money for online wagering. At the same time there will be various tools in place which will prevent underage people in Iowa to participate in the event. Sen. Jeff Danielson, D-Cedar Falls said that whenever they deal with gaming issues then a lot of public consideration is taken in mind. He further added that they have come up with a solution which they expect will address the problem.

It is to be noted that many groups such as Family Leader and Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition have opposed the bill earlier saying that it expands gambling. Tom Chapman of Iowa Catholic Conference said that legalizing online poker will expand it and will create more problems with families. Lawmakers of Nevada and District of Columbia have also accepted Internet poker, although both of them are still creating rule and are yet to launch the game.
